About the position 

The EA to the CEO will provide top-level strategic support on a daily basis. This is a business partner role with the opportunity to guide the strategic direction of the organisation, and work alongside a team of innovative and able-minded colleagues. This organisation is keen to embrace technological solutions, so familiarity with, and openness to learn about cloud-based project management tools and the like will be essential. Stakeholder liaison is a key element of the role, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable liaising with senior representatives from the tertiary sector, as well as government officials. This is a role that will suit a problem solver who thrives in a busy environment and has a forward-thinking, innovative approach to ways of working. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic CEO who values a level of strategic input from the EA. The CEO is transparent, driven and innovative, and is looking for an EA who can be trusted with the innermost facets of the company direction and delivery of KPIs. 

Given the strong level of liaison with tertiary institutions, this position suits a candidate with extensive experience in and understanding of the sector. Strong writing skills are essential to the role as the CEO anticipates that the EA will be trusted to write reports, proposals and high-level correspondence on their behalf. 


Position responsibilities 

  • providing senior strategic support and acting as business partner in the role 
  • acting on behalf of the CEO where required 
  • liaising with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
  • managing the CEO’s diary, gatekeeping numerous daily requests to maximise productivity  
  • preparing agendas, attending meetings, taking notes and circulating minutes
  • writing, preparing and formatting reports and presentations 
  • managing travel arrangements 
  • adhering to company values and policies at all times
  • managing any additional ad-hoc duties as requested by the CEO

Qualities you’ll need to succeed

  • excellent communication skills, including impressive writing abilities 
  • ability to anticipate needs and make proactive decisions
  • a high level of emotional intelligence, common sense and practicality
  • confidence in providing strategic support and insights
  • ability to handle a dynamic, fast-paced environment 
  • strong IT, calendar management and organisational skills 
  • a self-starter with initiative and the drive to get things done 

Preferred knowledge, skills and experience

  • previous experience in the tertiary sector is essential
  • experience liaising with government and other important stakeholders
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly writing
  • highly organised, self-motivated and efficient
  • experience managing domestic and international travel
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • the right to work in Australia as an Australian citizen or permanent resident
